When to go to Crete?
Crete basks in a typically Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and rather mild winters. In the month of August, the thermometer can climb to 30°C and it is in January that it is coolest with an average of 15°C.
With a good level of sunshine and mild winters, Crete is a pleasant destination to visit all year round. In summer, although temperatures are higher, the heat remains tolerable thanks to the wind. It is in the southern part of the island where rain is least common that the wind (the notias) blows more. In the north of the island, there is a lot more rain. In the mountainous region of the centre, with its summits at more than 2000m, snow often falls, sometimes even in large quantities. Did you know?
