Although the city is mostly known for its towering skyscapers, Hong Kong is also teeming with natural treasures. Escape the city's turmoil and take the day to relax on one of the many beaches. There are in fact forty beaches in Hong Kong, each different from the other, giving you plenty of choice for a fun day out in the sun.
f you think you can't go surfing in Hong Kong, then think again! There are many great surfing spots in the area, including Big Wave Bay Beach in Shek O. Rent your equipment for the day and enjoy the waves. The ideal season for surfing is between October and November.
If you're looking for a supervised beach with a family atmosphere and all the necessary comfort then you've come to the right place. Hong Kong has many sandy beaches staffed with lifeguards and equipped with shark prevention nets. Offering a number of convenient amenities, most beaches are easily reached by public transport such as Repulse Bay Beach and Shek O Beach.
