When to go to Macedonia?
In Macedonia, the summers are hot and the winters cold. The country is subject to different climates; continental in the northern part, mediterranean in the south and alpine in the mountainous areas.
In this country, four seasons come one after the other. Spring, which is lashed by some rain, is characterised by a certain warmth to the climate. The temperature varies between 26°C and 30°C in summer, but this is influenced by the hot winds from the east, and can rise up to 40°C. Summer is still an enjoyable season in which to visit, however. It is at this time of year that the famous Ohrid festivals take place and the weather during this time is ideal for enjoying all the performances. In autumn, we see a progressive drop in the temperatures. Then along comes winter, the season of snow, when the temperature can drop to -20°C. Despite its harshness, this season has an appeal of its own, with skiers hurrying to Mavrovo, while the Kale Fortress in Skopje is covered in snow, which makes it even more majestic.
