But what also contributes to Morocco's popularity are its seaside resorts and its beautiful coastline. Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the North and the Atlantic Ocean on the entire West coast, the country offers sublime beaches to suit all tastes. Family-friendly beaches in Agadir, Essaouira or Saidia, or even wilder beaches, offering breathtaking landscapes, such as Legzira beach and its glowing cliffs, or the desert island of the Dragon and its turquoise lagoon... wherever you are, the beauty of the beaches will leave you breathless. The majority of Moroccan beaches are wide expanses of fine sand where you can enjoy relaxing holidays or practice various water sports such as surfing or scuba diving. Morocco's beaches are just like the country: a diversified display of beauty and authenticity.

The most beautiful beaches
Beaches of Essaouira
It is difficult to make a selection of the most beautiful beaches of Morocco without mentioning the beautiful seaside resort of Essaouira. The large bay of Tafedna, a small fishing village about 37 miles from Essaouira, or even further south is Imsouane, which with its pale sandbanks is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, and is also a landmark for water sports enthusiasts such as surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, etc.

Dakhla dragon island
In the wide open spaces of southern Morocco, between the Sahara and the Atlantic Ocean, the Dragon island is a desert island whose shape evokes that of a dragon lying flat on its stomach. There are no signs of life on this island, but the setting is close to the Caribbean islands, ideal for pretending to be Jack Sparrow (minus the rum though). There's not much here, apart from large expanses of white sand, dunes and turquoise blue lagoons. “Paradise on Earth or " A mirage in the middle of the ocean" are the words many people have used to describe the island. Dragon Island is also ideal for water sports such as kitesurfing, sailing and catamaran trips. Also, keep your eyes open, it's not uncommon to spot dolphins!

Nador Beaches
How could we choose a single one? All the beaches of Nador have a little something special. This small town is located in the north-east of the country and has a beautiful and unspoilt coastline. Start with Cap des Trois Fourches, where the road that winds down the cliffs offers an incredible panoramic view of the deep blue Mediterranean. Cameras at the ready! If you fancy a nice swim, you will have a large choice of wild paradisical coves: Tcharrana and its turquoise waters, or the beach of Tibouda, and its small fishing village. Finally, divers will have the possibility of diving in the Cala Blanca cove, with its magnificent seabed, known as being one of the most beautiful in the country. If you still have some time left over , start climbing the lighthouse at Cap des Trois fourches, the 360° view from the top is worth seeing.

Sidi El Bachir beach
If you're not into the "Holiday club" atmosphere, don't worry. You can go on the beach of Sidi El Bachir a small cove of white sand outside of Saidia, unspoilt and nestled at the foot of a breathtaking cliff. Far away from the tourist bustle, you can enjoy a swim in the crystal clear water and also meet the locals.

Saidia Beach
Known as "the Blue Pearl", Saidia is one of Morocco's most popular seaside resorts. Located in the eastern part of the region, the city is famous for its fantastic 14 miles long fine sandy beach, its clear water and pleasant temperatures, and tourist facilities. Very lively during the summer season, the place is ideal for families and other holidaymakers who come here for relaxing holidays.

Beach of Oued Laou - Tetouan
About forty kilometres from the city of Tetouan in northern Morocco, the beach of Oued Laou is a delight for holidaymakers from abroad or locals. The landscape offers an amazing sight of fine sand and azure blue waters. Along the beach, a promenade with cafés and restaurants allows you to stroll around, while letting yourself be rocked by the sound of the waves. What we like about it here are its authenticity and relaxing atmosphere. Oued Laou beach has also been awarded the "Blue Flag" label, a guarantee of the cleanliness of the coast, but also of the quality of the services offered to holidaymakers.

Dalia Beach - Tangier
A small treasure just a stone's throw away from the port of Tangier Med, Dalia beach is very popular with the locals, especially families, who come here to enjoy its wide expanse of fine sand and swim in its transparent water. The few colourful fishing boats which pass by from time to time add undeniable charm to the place. With majestic mountains rising in the background, Dalia Beach is a stunning, quiet and authentic natural site. The beach becomes very lively in the summer, and children's playground attracts a lot of amusements (trampolines, slides, inflatable structures).

White Beach - Guelmim
In southern Morocco, on the road linking Agadir to Tan-Tan, facing the Canary Islands, the "Playa Blanca", so called by Spanish sailors, rightly deserves its name since it is covered by dazzling white sand dunes. Considered as the longest and wildest beach in Morocco, stretching over 25 miles, it is also the ideal site for incredible 4x4 rides. Quemado Beach - Al-Hoceima
In northern Morocco, the city of Al-Hoceima has the advantage of being bordered by the coasts of the Mediterranean and therefore has the most beautiful beaches in the country. Quemado beach is a must-see spot, it is dominated by the cliff of the same name: in addition to its white sandy bay and crystal clear water, visitors can also enjoy its facilities, including its hotel complex, and the many water sports activities that are available. Stretching over an area of 9000 m², Quemado Beach has become a very lively place, ideal for families who have come to rest but also have a good time. For those looking for peace and quiet, head for Badès beach, a peaceful pebble beach located about 30 miles from Al-Hoceima, or Cala Iris beach, one of Morocco's most attractive seaside resorts.

Oualidia Beach
Located halfway between Casablanca and Essaouira, Oualidia is a quiet and family-friendly seaside resort. Legzira Beach - Sidi Ifni

Beach of Taghazout - Agadir
Agadir is one of Morocco's most popular seaside resorts, due in part to its vast stretches of hot sand stretching for several kilometres. If you want to escape the many holidaymakers who have come to relax on the beach located in the very centre of the city, head for the Taghazout beach, which is about a half-hour's drive from Agadir. Calmer and wilder, this very large stretch of sand allows you to lay your towel down without encroaching on your neighbour's. Surfing enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy the thrill surfing! During a day in Taghazout, take the time to discover this picturesque fishing village and taste a good grilled sardine, looking at the ocean.
