Formerly known as Dahomey, this small West African country, independent since 1960, contains some of the continent’s greatest cultural wealth thanks to its forty ethnic groups and the diversity of their traditions. Sokbaro, is the highest point at 658 metres. Benin is essentially a land of savannah and, in the south, beautiful beaches.
