In the heart of west Africa, ringed by Mali, Niger, Benin, Togo, Ghana and the Ivory Coast is Burkino Faso. Formerly the Republic of Upper Volta, it gained independence in 1964 and is now a politically stable and welcoming country. Burkino Faso has retained genuine and rich cultural heritage specific to each of its regions.
