When to go to Greece?
Greece enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Winters are particularly mild and warm as the average temperature is around 10°C. By contrast, in summer it is very hot, especially further inland. Some regions bask in heat which comes close to being unbearable and the temperature easily exceeds the 30°C mark during the months of July and August. Along the coast and on the islands, the sea breeze cools the atmosphere down. Between the months of July and October, the Meltemi wind blows across the islands of the Aegean sea, making swimming dangerous. While the summer season is characterised by the absence of rain in almost all of the country, the period from December to January records the strongest rainfall.
