When to go to Iceland?

Go in summer to discover Iceland and enjoy the never-ending daylight. Nevertheless, fans of the northern lights won’t want to think twice about braving the difficult wintery weather conditions in order to attempt to see this unbelievable phenomenon.

With its oceanic climate, Iceland, the country of fire and ice, has a more temperate climate than you might think with its geographic position being under the Arctic circle. But if temperatures are not that cold, it is because of the Gulf Stream. In winter, the climate is quite tough, with cold temperatures, wind which is often present, strong blizzards, and very short days. The average temperature during this time is 0°C but this turns negative inland. This is therefore not the recommended season for your trip to Iceland , except for hunters of the northern lights. In summer, the climate is warm, but cool, with very long days, night practically never falls during the summer season. The average temperature rises to 15°C with peaks at 25°C in certain fjords. The sky is never completely sunny and rainfall during this time is common. It is worth noting that the wind regularly blows in the country. Even so, summer remains the ideal season for making the most of the endless possibilities offered by the Icelandic nature.
For your trip to Iceland, we therefore recommend the months from May to August to take in its superb landscapes.
